The only sure fire way to tell the genders of angelfish are to buy them in a group of 6 or more and let them pair off naturally. Once they lay eggs you can see their egg duct and sperm duct. The top picture below is the female, the black bar if you follow it down the body you can see the egg duct sticking out it's much wider and larger than the males. The male is the bottom picture you can see a small rod sticking out from the body that tells you it is a male.
Sexing angelfish can be easy as long as you give it time and be patience.
